YOUR MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS ANSWERED
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK IN MY WEDDING MAKEUP?
I take bookings up to twelve months in advance and up to a few weeks in advance when availability permits!
WHERE DO YOU HOLD TRIALS?
Trials are usually held in my apartment located in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane where you are welcome to bring a family member or friend should you desire. If it is more suitable for me to come to you though that can usually be arranged.
HOW LONG DO TRIALS USUALLY TAKE?
I allow up to two hours for trials, it's my opportunity to meet with you and get to know you and discuss your aspirations for your makeup on your wedding day. It also gives us time to make any changes to the look after we've done and talk about touch up products for the day.
WHEN ARE TRIALS HELD?
Most trials are held on Saturday afternoons once I've finished with a wedding in the morning. This is usually from about 2.30 or 3pm depending on the time I am due to finish at the wedding (I add a buffer period also in case of unforeseen circumstances). Once every few months I will have a full day dedicated to trials and will have morning appointments available on Saturdays so I can keep you posted on that should you wish. If Saturdays don't work for you at all please let me know and we can come up with an alternative plan.
WHAT DO YOU USE IN YOUR KIT?
My kit is made up of products I've tried, tested and trust. I am constantly updating my kit with a variety of brands based on what I feel does the job the best. These include Georgio Armani, YSL, Tom Ford, MAC Cosmetics, Temptu Pro, By Terry, Hourglass, Make Up For Ever and NARS. All items are clean, used hygienically and replaced regularly.
HOW LONG DOES MAKEUP TAKE ON THE DAY?
Realistically makeup takes about 45 minutes, however due to unplanned interruptions it can sometimes take a little longer, so I allow an hour per person for you on the day. To ensure things run smoothly it helps if everyone has their teeth brushed before it's time to start makeup and hands over their phone to someone else to take care of while the makeup is being done.
CAN I USE MY OWN LIPSTICK?
It's advised everyone has a lipstick of their own they can touch up with throughout the day so definitely I can use your favourite one or one that you've chosen. If there's any other coveted products you would like to use please feel free to show them to me and I will do my best to work them into your look.
WHAT SORT OF LASHES DO YOU USE?
I only use high quality lashes in my kit and have a selection of different styles to choose from. Individual flares, natural strip lashes and longer, thicker, more dramatic lashes are all available. If you have a latex allergy please let me know so that I can use latex free glue on you.
WHAT'S THE BEST PLAN OF ATTACK FOR GREAT SKIN?
Getting into a good routine is the best thing you can do as early as possible. A gentle cleanser and lots of hydrating moisturiser twice a day are vital. Smooth skin can be easily attained by rubbing a dry, clean towel over your face gently after you've had a shower in the morning and using a muslin or face washer to remove your makeup at night will help your skin glow. Use a cream exfoliant or gentle mask once a week instead if you have erupted acne or delicate skin.
HOW SHOULD WE PREP OUR SKIN FOR MAKEUP?
A gentle exfoliation (with a product or towel) the night before followed by a night cream will help rejuvenate your face while you sleep. Then in the morning, cleanser followed by moisturiser will make your skin hydrated and ready for makeup. Eye cream and lip balm can be used if desired.
WHEN SHOULD WE FINISH MAKEUP ON THE DAY?
It's best to finish around the time that your photographer is wanting to take photos of you before you get dressed in your wedding attire. For most people this is around 2 hours before your ceremony if you aren't too far away from the location. Check with your photographer when they would like everything to be finished so that you have plenty of time for photos. It may seem like you are getting ready early but time will fly on the day.
